Regardless of how you feel, I want to encourage you to continue (or start) praying for our nation and our leaders – especially if you are disappointed in how things turned out.  Not only are we called to do that:

 1Timothy 2:1-3 (ESV)
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,

There are two things I wish to point out about this passage:  1)The King and all those who were in high positions were not predisposed to support Christianity, and 2) Paul wrote this letter from prison.

Paul is not suggesting that “if they deserve it,” or “as long as they support Biblical principles.”  He is saying DO IT.  I would suggest prayer especially if they are undeserving and unsupportive.  After all, who would need it more?  No matter how much you are praying for our country, I want you to work on doubling it – that is my goal.

I have told you that if you read the end of the Bible it would appear that the church loses.  From a human perspective, the Church indeed gets pretty much wiped out.  Once that happens, Jesus returns and we in fact, win.  Until then, things are promised to go from bad to worse.  I believe that work has already started.  We need to fully rely on God from here on out if we have any expectation of “making it.”  Please, you are not hearing me say the end is near, but the beginning of the end is, and things are going to go downhill from here.

In addition to prayer, be ready to act.  It seems that when Jesus told the disciples to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers into the field, He then sent out His disciples.  When God told Moses He heard the cry of His people, He then told Moses to go and free them for Him.

We cannot ask God to act on our behalf, to bless this nation, to give wisdom to our leaders and then refuse to go out into the world and do something about it.  Believe me, the time is now that this country needs to have people who are willing to act on God’s behalf.  There will be plenty who will be looking out for their own interests, and others who will be the “odd for God” category that I always warn you about.  We need level headed, Godly people who do God’s will now more than ever.

I have already told God, “here I am, send me.” Are you with me?
