One of the good things about March is that Spring is right around the corner.  The fact that winter reported aboard six weeks late notwithstanding. – Stupid Groundhog!

Not far behind Spring is Easter.  The death and resurrection of Jesus is pivotal to our faith.  So much so that God put it at the beginning of the Holy Year:

Exodus 12:1-3 (ESV)
1  The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2  “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you. 3  Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household.

Confused?  You thought this passage dealt with the Passover – you are right, but I believe the two events (Passover and Jesus’ death on the cross), are part of the same process.  We talk a lot about this when we have our Communion Service on the first Sunday of the month (like today).  I do not believe it was a coincidence that Jesus died during the Passover.  Remember the council did not want to kill Him at this time of the year:

Mark 14:1-2 (ESV)
1  It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him, 2  for they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people.”

It did not happen the way they wanted it to happen, but God is sovereign, and His ways will always win out.  God changed the calendar for His people when He set them free from slavery to the Egyptians, I see God setting His people free from the penalty of sin as part of the same process.  Further, I would not be surprised if Jesus returned to claim His Church on the very same day (though I am not setting a date).
